This is a problem though but still the application is useful. Whatever windows you are working on, you have to go back to Desktop in order to increase or decrease the volume using mouse wheel. There is one strong drawback of WheelsOfVolume. One good thing about this application is that it doesn’t consume any unnecessary visual space and the application is basic and straight forward. Get a 7+ taskbar tweaker and you can change volume with a wheel while hovering over the taskbar or mute by double clicking the taskbar. This means there will be nothing visible on the desktop but a progress slider that will let you know the change of system volume. Before I had 2 variables in audio, I would set overall Windows mixer to (for example) 50 and then some constant like 15-40 (usually going in steps of 5) in windows mixer but for that specific application. WheelsOfVolume will just accentuate the volume change function with the scroll of the mouse wheel. Right now there are 3 variables in audio: Windows Volume mixer, In-game/Application audio settings and finally the Volume Scroll mixer. It won’t display any dialog box, or any window. When the installation is complete, the function will immediately come into effect. This collection of built-in tools adapts to the current system context to include: A system brightness tool when the user is on the Windows Desktop. I get that they want to make the O/S look all shiny and sleek, but Im. I have to manually slide the volume down. Now clicking on this opens up all the settings, and the scroll wheel does nothing. If I change the volume via the software slider, nothing breaks. With a scroll wheel, thats about 60 seconds of hang/reset events for a minor change. The App needs to be installed and then run. The Surface Dial is tightly integrated with Windows and supports a set of built-in tools on the menu: system volume, scroll, zoom in/out, and undo/redo. In win 10, I used to be able to easily adjust the volume by clicking on the speaker icon and using the mouse scroll wheel to move the volume up/down. Basically, every increment of the volume via a hardware button causes 1 hang/reset event. The main utility of WheelsOfVolume is to convert the mouse wheel scrolling function to increase or decrease system volume. If your computer keyboard doesn’t have such an option, there is an application available. The only other method I found working is a massage gun, hold the keyboard and wack it to hell with a Massage gun. Open the keyboard, clean it with air and alcohol using a cotton swab. Be prepared to do that twice a year or more. There are 3 solutions: Send it back for replacement. The key combination or the presence or absence of dedicated volume keys depend on the keyboard and the manufacturing company. No matter how clean you are, it will stop working. Changing volume or sound level in Windows computer can be done straight from the taskbar but different computers have different key combinations on keyboard to increase and decrease volume.
